Frying-pan Flat Blows Up (From “The Dominion,’’ July 27, UDO.) The Auckland •’Star’s” correspondent at Rotorua telegraphs that the original crater of Waimangu Geyser is sealed, but a new crater has been formed ou Fryiug-pau Flat, over which tourists have been coudueteil for the last six years. On Sunday evening the whole plaiu known as Frying-pan Flat blew up, nicks and rubble of quite considerable dimensions being thrown sky high. It is impossible to forecast the ultimate scope of the outbreak. The proximity of the eruption to Tarawera after a silence of six years is regarded as of some significance, and is causing some uneasiness.

The London newspapers gave favourable notices of Mr. G. K. Clutsaiu’s opera, "A Summer's Night,” which was produced at His Alajesty’s, Haymarket. Mr. Chit.sam is a New Zealander, and for some years was a resident of Auckland.

» v « Air. Keir Hardie, Labour member for Alertiiyr Tydvil. iu a speech at Chcsterle Street, said he regarded the existence of kings as proof of lunacy among their peoples. Sane people would insist ou ruling and governing themselves. It was n profound mistake to imagine that the workers of the country were intensely loyal. The cost of maintaining the Royal Family was 1790.000 a year. This was a scandalous waste. Both parties of the House of Commons, however, trooped into the same lobby, leaving the Labour Party and a few conscientious Radicals to do their best to oppose this waste.
