Ministerial. The Hon. J. G. Coblie, Minister of Defence, visited H.ileonibe last, evening to attend Hie reunion of Hie local branch of the Returned Soldiers’ Association. He will return to Wellington to-day. The Hon. A. Hamilton, Acting-Minis-ter of Finance, expects to leave Wellington this evening by the inter-island steamer express for Lyttelton. Ho will continue his journey to Dunedin and Invercargill. The Hon. C. E. Macmillan, -Minister of Agriculture, will return to Wellington to-day from the Auckland district. Sir Charles Kingsford Smith arrived at Wellington yesterday from Australia, via Auckland. Major J. R. Kirk. M.8.E., who has been visiting the Philippine and Celebes Islands, China and Japan, returned to Wellington from" Sydney by the Mara ma yesterday. Mr. R. IL Nesbitt, Australian Trade Commissioner, has returned to Wellington from a trip to Australia. Mr. AV. Goodfellow is visiting Wellington. .Air. S. L. I’. Free. Masterton, is a visitor to AVellington. Mr. T. R. Cresswell left AVellington for the South Island last, night. Mi'. F. Picot was a passenger for the south last night from AVellington. Mr. Stronach Paterson has returned to AVellington from the south. Mr. AV. T. Rae, manager of the Blue Star Line (N.Z.), Ltd., has returned to AA'ellington from the South Island. Colonel A. Orsborn, chief secretary of the Salvation Army, has returned to AVellington from the South Island. Mr. A. T. Donnelly, Christchurch, arrived at. AVellington yesterday morning. Mr. D. Reese and Mr. G. W. Reid, members of the Railways Board, arrived at AVellington yesterday from (he south. Mi'. B. Vinseu, New Zealand manager of Columbia Pictures, left Wellington last night on a business trip to Auckland.
Mr. Maurice Ralph was a passenger by the Makura for Sydney from AVellington yesterday, en route to England. He expects to return in about 12 months’ time.
Mr. S. V. Burridge, Lower Hutt, ami Air. W. It. Anderson, Taihape, both of tlie Gear Meat Company, Ltd., were passengers by the Makura tor Australia yesterday.
Mr. G. AV. Clinkard, General Manager of Hie Tourist Department and Secretary of the Department of Industries and Commerce, and Mr. L. J. Schmitt, who will succeed Mr. Clinkard when the latter leaves for Brussels, were passengers from Wellington Inst night for the north.
Sergeant AV. O’Donnell, who has been transferred to Palmerston North, was yesterday presented with a travelling rug by Senior-Sergeant D. J. O'Neill on behalf of tlie members of the Mount Cook police station. Sergeant. O’Donnell leaves to-day to take up his new duties.
Mr. Malcolm Fraser has joined the Council of the New Zealand Football Association. Air. Fraser was iu his youth a member of the Rovers club, Hie first chib formed in AA’ellington. lie represented Wellington against Auckland in 1593, IS9(i. ISOSand 19(11 ; Otago in js'.lti; Canterbury in 1891; Rualiine in 1898, and New South AV ales. He was for some years secretary of Hie Wellington Football Association, and served a previous term as a member of the Council of the N Z F.A Mr. Fraser took his seat on the council yesterday afternoon He was nominated for Hie position by Mr. B. L. Salmon, this being seconded by Mr. 11. L. Godber, and supported by Messrs. 11. 11. A. Ilonai and A. AVilliams.
