Bazaine Shows Pace By Telegraph.—Press Association. Palmerston North, July 23. The tracks at Awapuni were in good order this morning when candidates for the Manawatu winter meeting were galloped. The flags were well out on the course proper. Hunting Lodge and Round Score, with substantial weights up, ran seven furlongs in 1.37, the first five in 1.7. Round Score ran to the front at the top of the straight, but Hunting Lodge was again on terms at the post. Note Issue cantered round to the three furlongs post and came home in 40 3-5. Cyclopean ran the last two of three furlongs in 26 2-5. Evasion jumped away from the seven furlongs peg. Full Throttle picking her up a furlong later, mid the pair ran the six furlongs in 1.23 2-5. Full Throttle was travelling nicely throughout. Lavish and Kinsfolk, two rising two-year-olds, ran two furlongs in 26. Later Dawning Light alone ran 25. The firstnamed pair, however, got away from practically a flat-footed start. Hunting Jay did an easy seven furlongs in 1.45. Frugal. Hilton Gorse, mid Kitty Quinn finished in that order after running five furlongs in 1.9. The Moose shaded Petrarch, with Te Rangitumau close iip. nt the end of five furlongs in 1.10. Happy Hunting strode over six furlongs in 1.23 1-5, the first throe in 40 4-5. Gold Cure and Treasure limit ran seven furlongs in 1.38 4-5, the first halfmile in 57 2-5, and though the latter was a shade in front at the close he had the better of the weights. Bazaine registered the smartest five furlongs of the morning in running 1.7 4-5. the first two furlongs in 26 3-5.
