Sir, —Recently the Government stated that the information concerning horsepower on tlie recent motor registration forms was asked for by the Defence Department! The public remembers that after the previous £6,000,000 loan the import duties on overseas tobacco were reduced and excise duties were levied on New Zealand- tobacco. As a result of the meat quota discussions are tlie British Dominions being compelled to pass it Bill through Parliament taxing motors on horse-power?—l am. etc., MOTORIST. ■Wellington, July 22.
