An Ashburton Romance

The marriage of Mr. William Proctor HoweU, aged 91, and Mrs. Christina Lawson, aged 73. took place today. Mr. Howell resided in Dunedin in 1557, and worked there, at Oainaru, and on the Central Otago goldfields for many years. Mrs. Howell’s husband ami two .sons, one aged 10 and the other 13, were drowned in a wreck near Auckland.

Tlie old couple knew each other in Dunedin over 50 years ago, but their ways parted, and they did not come together again till they met in Ashburton several years ago.
