Provincial Championships
The Basin Reserve should be crowded this afternoon to see the pick of the amateur .athletes competing for the provincial champiouships. Iteeord entries have been received, and interest will be lent by the presence of teams from Wairarapa and Marlborough. There are likely to '•>.• many exciting contests. The 100 yards should see a great race between \V. J. 'Bitzsinunojis, J. M .Watt, and E. Bartlett, ami the mile will be fought. out between M. Cookg. Chalk. A. It. Wilson. .1. Ridditigton and T. Rafter. W. Ogg . will defend his title in ihe half-mile event, and will have to move fast to retain it. Misses T. Keuek, M Xeligau and 1). Hurley will be nil out to wrest (In- 100 yards women's cbampioitsbip from Miss A. t.’. Gibbs. Wairarupa. Three scratch cycling events' will lend variety to the programme. The lirst race will start at noon, and there will be a break for lunch from 1.15 to 1.-10. A parade of athletes will take place at 2 p.in.
