VERY TRICKY WICKET
Cricket iu British Guiana Georgetown, February 11. Heavy rain yesterday made lie 1 ’wicket tricky for the resumption of play in the cricket match, M.C.C. v. British Guiana, and Wyatt, after a collapse, declared in the hope of batting later on an improving wicket, which duly materialised. Tlie scores are:—British Guiana 18$ for eight wickets, declared (Paine six for 67),'and 57 (C. V. Wright 30 not out; Wyatt four for 18. Paine four for 11); M.C.C. 41 for five wickets, declared (Smith 24, Leyland 0, Hammond 2. Ames 1, Jones three for 19) and 113 for one wicket (Wyatt 1. Hammond 60 not out, Townsend 52 not out). At one stage of British Guiana’s second innings, Wyatt had taken four wickets at a cost of only one run. TESTIMONIAL MATCH Woodfull and Ponsford Each Receive £1042 (Received February 12, 9.55 p.m.) Melbourne, February 12. Two cheques, each for £1042, being the proceeds of the testimonial cricket match, have been handed to W. M. Woodfull and W. Ponsford by the Victorian Cricket Association. Canon Hughes, president of the association, said that the names of Woodfull and Ponsford would be for all time among the honoured.
