Selling quotations were numerous, * but there seemed little disposition to make iany concessions. d There was a good inquiry for Govern--5 ment loans. Buyers eased 10/- for 4 per fcent. stock, 1940, at £lO2, and for the ? 1040 maturity of bonds and stock, which J were quoted at £lO6/10/-. The 4 per J cent. stock, 1949, was quoted 5/- lower sat £lO7. A sale was reported of 31 per /cent, stock, 1938/52 at £lO7. < Banks were definitely quiet on the buy- / ing side, and there were numerous sellers *in the list. New South Wales were f weaker in a sale on change at £3l, buyers •; staying in at £3O/10/-. Commercial of ’ Australia were 3d. up at 16/3, sellers as,f*iing 16/8. New Zealands were wanted at r.50/3. In the pastoral and financial sec•s Hon Goldsbrougli Worts dropped sharply sto 27/6, sellers holding for 29/-. N.Z. /[Loan and Mercantile ordinary stock was i.’marked up 20/-to £42. x Gas shares were firm, Aucklands selling flat 27/74. Insurance shares were quiet, J but there was a good inquiry for meat issues. Canterbury Meats firmed >lO/- at £lO/10/-. sellers coming-in at £ll. r-' Gear Meats were a shade easier at 21/9. were firm at 75/-, ex dividend. N.Z. Refrigerating were wanted at 19/-. a and at 9/4 for the 10/- paid. Huddart 'Parkers were 6d. better at 37/6, sellers /.asking 1/- more. Timber shares were Breweries and miscellaneous ini dustrial and trading issues were quiet •’ Electrolytic Zinc, preference, sold at 34/-, 5 and in the mining section Mount Morgans -’were traded at 40/3.
