Philip Hargrave’s Great Triumph! The very large audience which attended Saturday night’s initial Wellington concert of the 12-year-old pianist, Philip Hargrave, was attracted by the wonderful reports from Australia mid Auckland regarding his outstanding genius, and to say that these reports were justified ; s really putting it> too mildly. After his first'number the audience quickly realised that Philip, although only a mere child, was a musician who may be compared with the most famous pianists who have ever visited Wellington. He received a great ovation after he had perfectly presented' Bach’s Prelude and Fugue, and afterward the enthusiasm of the audience knew no bounds, aud encore after encore was demanded. At the final close of the recital the young pianist was actually cheered, and a large crowd gathered outside the stage door to again cheer him as he left the theatre. GRAND OPERA HOUSE Lessees: J. C.
