Masterton, November 3. Tricky conditions prevailed on the Fairview range this afternoon, when the .Masterton-Opaki Rifle Club held a shoot over 800 and 900 yards. There were sixteen members on the mound. The weather was dull with a slight wind blowing in from the left. Later in the afternoon the wind swung round to the east and conditions at the 900 yards range called for considerable judgment. The competition was divided into two grades, one for those using 1930 ammunition and later, and one for those using ammunition of older date. The conditions in both cases were 10 shots with two optional sighters on both ranges. The scores registered by those firing with the newer ammunition are as follow :—
