Opponents for All Blacks WELLINGTON MATCH On their return to Now Zealand, the All Blacks will play a team representing the Rest of New Zealand, the match serving as a further trial to assist the New Zealand selectors in their task of choosing a New Zealand team to tour Great Britain next year. The team was announced yesterday as follows: — Full-back: M. Davies (Waikato). t Three-quarters: C. Smith, (Hawkes Bay), 0. Stringfellow (Wdlrarapa), N. A. Mitchell (Southland). „ Five-eighths: H. Fookes (Otago), Fookes (Taranaki). . . Half-back: 11. Simon (Otago). -Forwards: Best (Marlborough), G. A. Orman (Buller), A. I. Cottrell (Canterbury), front row; G. T. Adkins (South Canterbury), E. R. G. Steere (Hawkes Bay), Fraser Smith (Wairarapa), K. Clarke (Taranaki), middle row; and McCracken (North Auckland), back ot will bo provided by drawing upon those members of the touring team who are not chosen in the first fifteen. McLEOD IN AUSTRALIA New Plymouth, August 22. - McLeod, who was originally selected in the New Zealand team to play the All Blacks, and has now been replaced by Best, o' Marlborough,- has been working in Australia for some time and, as far as is known, will not return for many months. The two Fookes selected at five-eighths are brothers. EXCITING MATCH Wellington Colts and'King Country Draw By Telegraph.—Press Association Taumaruiuli, Augiwt 22. The most spectacular Rugby match seen here for years was played to-day when the Wellington colts team and King Country drew, 23 points all. The first spell was even. King Country leading by .13'points to 10. Wellington equalised quickly in the second spell, and playing delightfully open football ran to a 10-point lead. King Country looked a beaten side at this stage, dawled by the brilliance of Tindall and Baldwin, who cut through the defence repeatedly. -Linda II had the crowd on their feet when he snapped the ball off the toes of the opposing forwards and potted a lovely, goal with a greasy ball, rain having set in at half-time. , , King Country from then on played an inspired game, the forwards initiating slashing loose rushes and the backs, no.ably Conway,' Barton, Bathgate and Crossman, taking advantage of openings. There was tremendous excitement in the last quarter, of an hour, when Barton ran the length of the field to send Bathgate over near the posts for a converted try. Just before the call of time Crossman picked up near the Wellington line and was over for a converted try, equalising the scores. _ . Scorers for Wellington were Baldwin, Tindall, McGreevy and McGurk (tries), Lamnson converting two and kicking a penalty goal; Tindall potted a goal. For King Country Phillips, Crossman (two), Bathgate and Conway scored tries. Gordon converting three: and Crossman one.
