Conciliation at Dunedin By Telegraph.—Press Association. Dunedin, April 27. At a sitting of the Conciliation Council to-day before Mr. S. Ritchie. Commissioner, three complete agreements were reached. The first dispute was between manufacturing chemists and the Dunedin Manufacturing Chemists’ Union. It was agreed that wages of male workers be £5 a week for qualified laboratory assistants and qualified man in charge of the fill room and £4 for unqualified assistants, other workers to receive £3/12/- a week. The wages for female workers were agreed to as follows: — For the first six months 15/-, for the second six months 17/6, for the second year £l/2/6, for the third year £l/5/-, for the fourth year £l/13/-, thereafter £l/15/-, with the proviso that those at present receiving £l/17/6 shall not be reduced. Wages to be paid to youths under 21 vears of ago for the first six months is'to be 15/- for the second six months 17/6, for the second year £1 2/6, for the third year £l/7/6, for the fourth year £l/15/-. for the fifth year £2/10/-. thereafter the minimum wage prescribed for adult workers. Agreement was reached on nil other points. Tn the hairdressers’ and tobacconists’ dispute it was agreed that the minimum rate for journeymen be £4 a week. Female workers for the first year are I<> receive 15/-, for the second 20/-, for the third 25/-, for the fourth 40/-. for the fifth 60/-. 'The journalists’ dispute was settled on the following lines: —Seniors are to have a general reduction of 5 per cent, and juniors and cadets arc further reduced. Provision is made for three week’s’ annual holiday for seniors, two weeks for others. The hours of work are -IS weekly. The agreement is for one year from Mny 27.
