Prison Camp Escapee EIGHT DAYS’ FREEDOM Second of Party of Three After eight days’ liberty from confinement in a prison camp _ near National Park, an escaped prisoner voluntarily gave himself up to the police at Alt. Crawford Gaol yesterday afternoon. The runaway, Eugene Charles Dominie McCarthy, aged 25, was serving a scnlP!i<*c of throe years at Whisky Creek prison camp when be and two fellow-prisoners made their escape on April 20. A search was organised and two dav* later the lirst of the escapees, Vincent Barney Reardon, aged 30, who had been serving a two years’ sentence, was recaptured. The third prisoner is still al large. He is Basil Hodgson, aged 20. who had been sentenced for a term of two years.
