The Postmaster-General, Sir Henry Kingsley Wood, in a broadcast talk, revealed that when the link with India is completed in March, it will be possible for any one in Britain to telephone to any one throughout the Empire and 95 per cent of the telephone users of the world. “London has become the switchboard of the world.’ lie said. "Tlie record long-distance call is held by an American film star who telephoned to London from Australia and through it connected with Los Angeles.” When the air mail system is extended, via Singapore, to Australia, the Minister added, letters will reach Australia in fourteen days
