Free Education
Sir, —Assuming that your corresponueut; Mr. G. 4'. Hudson, expects his question about terminating free education ar. the sixth standard to be taken seriously, may one be allowed to follow it with a few of the many other questions that seem to follow in logical order from it? For. example: (a) Why stop at the sixth stan-l dard instead of the fourth, or the second; (b) Why have any free education at all; (c) Whv demand payment for the secondary and not for the more important and valuable primary? (d) What is education for, and what good is it, anyhow; (e) Which gains the greater benefit from the extension of education, the community or the individual? —I am, etc., “REASON.’ Wellington, December S.
