Ministerial. The Hon. J. G. Cobbe, Minister of Justice, who spent the week-end at his home at Feilding, returned to Wellington yesterday morning. The Hon. J. A. Young, Minister of Health, will return to Wellington by the Limited express from Auckland this morning. The Hon. D. Jones, Minister of Agriculture, will return to Wellington by this morning’s ferry steamer from Lyttelton.
Colonel J. J. Esson arrived from Auckland by the Limited express yesterday. Mr. J. H. C. Bond, Dominion superintendent of the New Zealand Shipping Company, went to Nelson last evening. Mr. E. A. Reid, Rarotonga; Mr. A. W. Dodd, Helensville; and Mr. C. C. Holmes, Manakau, are at the Royal Oak Hotel.
Mr. A. S. Butler, of the Minorles, London, has returned from the South Island, and will leave for Sydney today by the Monowai. Mr. Beaumont Smith, managing director of J. C. Williamson Films Ltd., left for Auckland by the Limited express last evening.
Mr. O. S. White, a director of the Fiji Pineapple Company, was a passenger on the Monowai, which arrived in Wellington yesterday. Colonel Swain, the head of the Samaritan branch of the Salvation Army, has returned to Wellington from a visit to Auckland. Messrs. G. Bebn and O. McCormack, of the Willys Knight Motor- Company, were passengers on the Monowai, which arrived from San Francisco yesterday. Mr. R. C. Addison, resident inspector of the Bank of New South Wales, returned to Wellington yesterday after a visit to Blenheim, Nelson and the West Coast. Mr. T. 11. Ford and Mr. C. O. Stone, Auckland; Mr. W. Price, Thames; Mr. R. Stark, Oamaru! Mr. G. S. Jones, Christchurch; and Mr. R. Fraser, Dannevlrke, are at the Grand Hotel. The Rev. G. C. Crulckshank, M.A., vicar of St. Mark’s, Remuera, has been appointed vicar of the Dunedin Cathedral district, succeeding Canon E. R. Neville. The appointment takes effect on May 1 next.
Professor James Park, Dunedin, Dean of the Faculty of Mining at Otago University, who is retiring in February, has gone to West Australia on mining business, and expects to be away about five weeks. Mr. W. D. G. Hartley, managing director of the Securities Corporation (N.Z.), Ltd., Dunedin, passed through Wellington yesterday on his way to Auckland, where he will join the Niagara for Honolulu. Mr. L. Ennis, of the firm of Dorman, Long and Co., who are in charge of the construction of the Sydney Harbour bridge, is a through passenger on the Monowai, which arrived in Wellington yesterday from San Francisco.
