Man Killed, Three Injured RESCUER IN GAS MASK By Telegraph.—Press Association. Oamaru, December 14. When an ammonia-liquid receiver burst at the Waitaki Farmers’ Freezing Company’s Pukeuri works this afternoon, John Norton, aged 70, married, lost his life and three others were injured, one of whom, Ross Clark, lies in Oamaru Hospital in a serious condition. The men were working in the engineer’s fitting rooiti when the accident happened, all making their escape except Norton, who subsequently- was dragged from the room by a rescuer in a gas helmet. The man, however, was dead. , An inquest opened to-day -and was adjourned after identification of the victim.
