Letters in Brief
“Having been closely identified with New Zealand polities for about four decades.” writes “P.W.5..” “my judgment will doubtless be. as accurate as that of a correspondent who-- 1 you quote in Friday’s ‘Dominion,’ and without the slightest reservation I affirm that the Reform Party has lost considerable prestige, and were a general election to take place at the present time, under the three-party system, it would occupy third place.”
“Listening to-night (April 29) to station 2YA’s special international programme,” writes “Here’s Hoping,” Levin, “one wonders whether the station would not be better engaged giving a selection of New Zealand songs, etc., thus giving our musical people a chance to forward themselves, than' giving us American trash such as ‘Ambassadors of Melodyland.’ etc.- Since this international night began, we country people prefer to wait for the Sydney stations, which we can always rely on for a varied programme catering for the mass of listeners. Surely 2YA could emulate the Sydney programmes, if only for the night now used for the advertisement of the American twang which is evident throughout the programme. Hoping that the newly-formed Listeners’ League will attempt to stimulate the Broadcasting Comnany to better effort in the matter of Wednesday night programmes.”
