AIR-MINDED MINISTERS

Two Fly to Wanganui and Back Following the example of the British Prime Minister, Mr. Ramsay MacDonand, and his own predecessor, Sir Thomas Wilford, the Minister of Defence, the Hon. J. G. Cobbe, is using an aeroplane to fulfil his engagements. In a Moth piloted by Flight-Lieuten-ant V. Somerset-Thomas, he left.Rongotai at 12.15 on Saturday for Wanganui, where he was to open the airport, and arrived shortly after dinner. The Director of Air Services also flew from Christchurch to Welllugton in a D.H.50 machine piloted by Squad-ron-Leader J. L. Findlay. This machine left later for the pageant being held in connection with the airport opening, taking the Minister of Transport. the Hon. W. A. Veitch, and Mr. W. J. Polson, M.P., to the pageant. The return trip was made yesterday, when the Minister of Defence also returned in this machine, which arrived at Rongotai shortly before noon.
