COMRADES OF THE AIR
Association Formed Dominion Special Service. London, July 17. Airmen who battled with death in the skies during the war, and the young men who have followed them in days of peace, have banded together in an association which in many ways must be unique. It is the Royal Air Force Comrades’ Association, which is to come into full being at a meeting in London next week. There are a number of Army and Navy organisations banded together, but this is the first time the men of the air have tried to get together on land for social intercourse and comradeship. When the association meets, prominent officers of the R.A.F. will be appointed to its control. The chairman is to be Air-Commander C. R. Samson, himself an intrepid airman. The title of the association is perhaps a little misleading. .Membership will be open to all officers and airmen who served with the Royal Naval Air Service, the Royal Flying Corps, and the Royal Air Force. The association, unlike others of its kind, has not been formed with the idea of catering for charitable cases There already exist adequate organisations responsible for dealing with those in distress. Its admirable objects arc briefly stated in the provisional rules “To foster esprit de corps, to encourage and promote social gatherings among its members, and to render service to one another.” It is hoped to form branches throughout the country, so that members may meet regularly
