Instantaneous Death.—A Press Association telegram from Christchurch states that Bruce McLachlan, aged 40, a wellknown farmer of Bogside, near Doyleston, was killed late on Saturday afternoon when a driving belt from a traction engine which he was operating in conjunction with a snwbench, came off. The belt wrapped itself round his body, and he was thrown into the machinery. Death was instantaneous.
