INTER-CLUB MATCHES POSTPONED
Owing to the heavy rain and the fact that the grass courts on the association grounds at Miramar will be unplayable, the Management Committee of the Wellington Lawn Tennis Association decided to postpone the inter-club matches set down for to-day. SCHOOLS’ TOURNEY The primary and the secondary schools tournaments will be commenced to-day, the former on the association courts at Miramar, starting at 8 o’clock, and the latter on the Technical College and Wellington East Girls’ College courts, starting at 9 o’clock. Mr. E. D. Harland will be the referee for the primary schools-tournament. For the secondary schools tournament the senior players will report to Miss Joan Willson at the Technical College courts, and the juniors to Miss LaneBrown at the Wellington East Girls’ College courts. PROFESSIONALS’. CHALLENGE MATCH. (Bee. November 29, 11.45 p.m.) . Sydney, November 29. The professionals’ challenge golf match between Fred Popplewell and Don Spence and Will Corry and Frank Eyre for £5O a side, over 72 holes, ’ended to-day, the victors being Corry and Eyre, 1 up. The match, which was extremely exciting, was won on' the last green, where Eyre sank a seven-foot putt for a win. TENNIS CHAMPION MAKES AN IMPORTANT STATEMENT. “I always select Spalding’s to play with whether for coaching or competition,” said Karel Kozeluh, the great tennis player, when coaching the British players for the Davis Cup at Wimbledon.
