PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH MEETING.

The annual meeting of St. Presbyterian Church, Levin, was held on Wednesday night, when the -Bev- rv. Crocket presided over a good attendance of members and friends, some who had come from as far as Otaki. The sesswn report submitted by the clerk (Air. W. Davie) showed steady progress. l {e sret was expressed that the Alinister .(Rev. R. Crocket) had had to resign owing to strain of work. Complimentary reference was made to Mr. Crocket’s pulpit ministrations and his work generally, particularly in establishing a cause at Otaki. The financial statement showed that never before had the church bera in such a healthy condition, over £l2ot) having passed through the hands of the church treasurer, while the church property was in excellent order. The ;superintendent of the Sunday school (Mr. J. AV. Bishop) reported that the income had been in the neighbourhood of ioJ. The Ladies’ Guild and P.AV.M.U., also the Busy Bees’ reports, mentioned that good work had been accomplished during the year, over £l3O being gathered from various sources. The Alaori Birthday Deague had a membership of about bo. The retiring managers were re-elected, with the addition of two new members, Alessrs. Ryrie and Balloon. . During the evening the Session Clerk presented the departing minister with an illuminated address, signed by members and adherents, and a wallet of notes. He made fitting reference to. the splendid work carried on by the minister and his wife during the last four years. Others spoke in a similar strain. Mr. Thorpe, treasurer of the Otaki church, gave a brief account of the work in bis town and said that it was the Rev. R. Crocket’s steady labour that had made possible the erection of the church in Otaki. He presented Air. Crocket with a travelling rug and a cushion for Airs. Crocket. Miss Nichol, on behalf of the senior Bible class, asked Mr. Crocket to accept a set of gold sleeve links. A duet was sung by Mesdames Jennings and Ince and supper was dispensed.
