TAIHAPE NOTES
A farewell was tendered by the residents of Taihape on Thursday evening to .Mr. ami Mrs. D. J. O’Neill. The Mayor (Mi'. -I- B- Aldridge), who presided, congratulated Mr. O'Neill on being promoted from the charge of the Tab hiipc police stat io,, to Onehunga station, •iml on behalf of the town ami district presented him with a rug and also a bag containing ti substantial sum of money. Mrs O'Neill was made the recipient of •i cliataleine hag. The function was or-‘-•inised bv Mr. F. M. Marlow, assisted by Messrs' E. Loader and E. I*. Dunean. 'On Wednesday evening the district troop of the Legion of Frontiersmen took the opportunity of presenting Seigt. O’Neill with n I 1 '! 10 tobacco pouch suitably inscribed. Sergt. -Joyce, ol Palmerston North, has arrived in Taihape to take charge of the local police station
