ANNUAL MEETING.

The annual meetiug'bf the Wellington Public Schools’ Lawn Tennis Association was held in the Teachers' Institute on Mr. W. J. Melody presiding over . a large attendance of delegates from thirty city and suburban schools. The election of officers for' the ensuing season resulted 'as follows: —Patron, Mr. C. Scotter. 1 Annual Touroamen.. ■ For the annual tournament, Which commences at Miramar on Saturday next at S a.ni., over'a thousand entries have been received from the following . schools: Upper Hutt, 24; Eastern Hutt, 60: Hutt Central; 60; Petone Vfest. 52; Petonc Central, 48; Plimmerton, 12; Thorndon Normal, 22; Wadestown, • 54; Terrace, 50; Northland, 16; Kelburn, 54; Brooklyn, 28; Mt. Cook, 9; Berhampore, 39; Island Bay, 60; South Wellington, 52; .Roseneath. 45; Clyde Quay, 50; Newtown, .10; Hataital; 49; Lyall Bay. GO: Miramar South, 9; Seatoun, 55;, Kilbirnle,' . 28;. Miramar Central. 20; Trentham, 12: Wilford. 24; Kongo-, tai College. 20. . . Weather permitting, thirty-two courts will be available for the children, and the results of matches should flow into the Press stewards at the: rate of one hundred per hour. ■ , System of I’lny. ■ It has been decided this year to divide the tournament into two sections, Section A, comprising 128 boys and 128 girls, who will play in singles, one-sex doubles, and mixed doubles, and Section B. which'will include the remaining competitors, who will also play in three events. This arrangement will enable the children to answer the calls made on them without their being subjected to undue physical strain. The courts have, been divided into four sections, each of winch has been placed under the control of . a teacher,- who will be responsible for the disposition of games, allocation of umpires, issue of balls, etc.. )■ connection with all children drafted by the controlling officer. The section-controllers are ns follow:— Section W. Mr. D. Melvor (Petonc Central): Section X, Mr. ,T. Flttall (Wilford); Section Y. ‘Mr. W. H. Scotter (Clyde Quay) : Section Z. The catering arrangements (morning tea is provided free- of charge) are in the hands of the ladies’ committee, who will be assisted by the girls of Miramar Central School.
