TT has been truly said that no country can ever be great which depends entirely on its primary products. We purchase from "*■ abroad millions of pounds’worth of goods we could make ourselves. We purchase from U.S.A, eight millions’ worth, per year (mostly cars and petrol) against their four millions from us. By fostering local industry when it is practicable, 8000 men now employed in relief works would produce goods we now procure from abroad. Let us always remember |hat our country is our .first market—a very good one, too, and cater for it by supplying it with its requirements, and employing its own people for the purpose. Existing duties are fixed as a source of revenue—they should be recast to provide encouragement to possible local industries. ASK FOR A CAR WITH A LOCALLY-BUILT BODY.
