ANNUAL MEE'TING OF . ASSOCIATION By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, November 27. The annual meeting of the council of the New Zealand Boy Scouts’ Association was held to-day, Captain J. R. Kirk presiding. The chairman referred to the impending departure of the patron of the association (the Governor-General), saying Sir Charles and Lady Alice Fergusson had made a deep impression on all by their wonderfully unselfish lives. He moved: “That this council places on record its sense of regret at the impending departure of the patron of the Boy Scouts’ Association, Major-General Sir Charles Fergusson, whose inspiring and unselfish labours and whose wise and helpful words have so greatly promoted the Scout movement in New Zealand. With its respect the council tenders to Their Excellencies, Sir Charles and Lady Alice Fergusson, its most cordial thanks and its best wishes for the future.” The motion was carried by acclamation. Messrs. Norton, Francis, and AV. H. Montgomery and Dr. Arthur Sandston were elected to the council. Captain J. R. Kiyk was re-elected chairman of the council. The following retiring members of the executive were re-elected: Messrs. G. AV. Bishop, H. Herbert Smith, Rev. W. H. Orbell, and Lieut.-Colonel CressWell. . .
It was resolved that in addition to the elected members of the council that the body should consist of all metropolitan commissioners and all district commissioners not serving in a metropolitan district. Captain Sandford was appointed special instructor for a period of six months in good-conduct badge courses and scoutcrs’ training.
