INFECTIOUS DISEASES
SLIGHT DECREASE Infectious disease cases reported to the district Health authorities for the week ended yesterday numbered two less than were recorded during the previous week. An increase of scarlet fever notifications from four to six is reported from the Central Wellington area. A case of hydatids is included in the statistics from the WairarapaHawke’s Bay district. Detailed figures are as follow, those for last week being given in parentheses:— Wanganui - Horowhenua: Scarlet fever, 2 (2); diphtheria, 3 (3); tuberculosis, O (3) ; pneumonia, 0 (1) ; puerperal fever, O (1); eclampsia, 1 (0). Total, 6 (10). Wairarapa-Hawke’s Bay: Scarlet fever, 5 (2); diphtheria, 2 (1); enteric fever, 0 (1); tuberculosis, 2 (1); pneumonia, 2 (3); puerperal fever, 0 (1); eclampsia, 0 (2); hydatids, 1. Total,'l2 (11). Central Wellington: Scarlet fever, 8 (4); diphtheria, 2 (1) ; enteric fever, 0 (2); tuberculosis, 2 (2); pneumonia, 3 (2); erysipelas, 0 (2) ; eclampsia, 0 (1). Total, 15 (14). Nelson-Marlborough: Scarlet fever, 3 (3); tuberculosis, 0 (1); diphtheria, 0 (1). Total, 4 (4). Grand total, 37 (39).
