PETONE CLUB Tjhe Petone Kifle Club fired a further competition for the championships, J laws Cup, Bough and Co. Cup, and long ranne series at Treutham on Saturday at rauges 800 and ‘JOO yards. , The weather was beautifully fine in tue afternoon. There was a fairly strong mirage to contend with, and this no doubt accounted for a few of the “strays, as several good scores were spoilt by one or two bad shots. There was a large attendance. and if anything the shooting showed a marked improvement over recent performances. , , . At SOO yards there was a fairly steady right wind blowing and the top scorers were F. Williams. T. Warburton, L. HiCT and K. H. Nicholl with 46 each, H. Ballinger and W. Mclver 43 each. Williams and Fuge were unfortunate in not registering 48, as both finished with "birds. The shooting at this range was good, as no fewer than 26 members averaged inners and over. ~,,,, At 900 yards the light was a little troublesome; but again some good scores were registered. F. Jamieson and A. Chapman each scored 45, the latter being very unfortunate in finishing with an "outer." H. Warburton, L. Rule and W. H. Ballinger scored 44 each and there were several with 43. The highest aggregates for the day were secured bv F. Williams and F. Jamieson, with 89 each. Both members are comparatively young marksmen, and they were complimented on their good performances. T. Warburton continues to hold bis P oBl ' tion near the top of the list and totalled 88. A. Ballinger scored 87, and H. Warburton 87. The latter is a first-year shot and his performance is very creditable. The spoon winners for the day'were:. _ A grade, F. Jamieson and A. O Donnell, B grade, F. Williams and K. E. 1 laws. C grade, H. Warburton. The team competition was very close, as only one point separated the first three teams. It resulted as follows:—B. Ballinger’s team, 344 (F. Williams 89, A. Ba linger 87, iZ Rule 83, E. Ballinger 83): R. H. Nicholl’s team, 343; T. Warburtons team, 342; H. Dickson’s team, 331, W. H. Ballinger’s team. 324; W.
