FROM FAR AND NEAR Archbishop of Melbourne.: —At an impressive ceremonial, consistent with All Saints’ Day, Canon F. W. Head was consecrated Archbishop of Melbourne at Westminster Abbey, states an Australian Press Association message from London. Sydney Yachts Collide.—The Rawhiti, Sydney’s 'biggest racing yacht, collided with the Morna off Taronga Park, where they were racing, bow to bow. Nobody was hurt, but the Rawhiti’s Marconi mast, which had recently been imported from Genoa at a cost of £2OO, was snapped.—Press Assn. Compulsory Parades Cancelled. —Official advice has been received at the Sydney Defence Office cancelling all compulsory military paradgs and camps in Australia.—Press Assn. Dean of Perth.—Archdeacon R. H. Moore, of Northam (about 60 miles north-east of Perth), has been appointed Dean of Perth, states a Press Association message. Archbishop Riley had acted as Dean until his death last year. Lung Punctured.—As a result of a collision between his bicycle and a motorcycle near Manurewa yesterday, Charles Barratt, a farmer, aged 32, sustained a punctured lung (states a Press Assn, message from Auckland). His condition is serious. Boy Seriously Injured.—Grave injuries to his head and one shoulder were sustained by David Rhodes, aged 12 years, as the result of falling from his bicycle in Dominion Road, Auckland, yesterday morning. The boy is a son of Mr. L. E. Rhodes, Mayor of Mt. Albert, and his condition is serious.—Press Assn.
