SUNKEN AIR LINER
WRECK LOCATED IN DEEP WATER BEYOND REACH OF DIVERS ITALIANS THANKED FOR EFFORTS (United Press Association— By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) (Rec. October 30, 5.5 p.m.) Rome, October 30. The sunken air liner, City of Rome, has been located in fifty-five fathoms. The difficulty of raising her is great and the expense will be extremely high. Divers are unable to descend to the wreck. Air Vice-Marshal Sir Sefton Branckner, who was in Genoa and was an eyewitness of the rescue work, officially thanked the Italian Government for its efforts. The Postmaster-General regrets to announce that as the result of the wreck of the Imperial Airways aeroplane City of Rome in the Gulf of Genoa last Saturday, the whole India air mall, which left Karachi on October 20, and the mails which left Basra and Bagdad on October 22 and Gaza and Alexandria on October 23, are believed to have been destroyed. AIRSHIP RlOl ready to resume trials Rugby, October 29. The starting engine of the airship RlOl has now been remedied and the airship will resume her trials at the earliest favourable opportunity. She may leave her shed early to-morrow morning.
