TROTTING

WELLINGTON MEETING . FORM OF UNHOPPLED TROTTERS (By “Overcheck.") In the ’following notes is given a brief review' of the form of the unhoppled trotters :— Audo Spray is an aged gelding by Great Audubon from Sen Spray. He contested twelve races last season, winning a couple and securing, place money In three others. In his first outing he was second to Altonbrook at Nelson, Nelson Parrish, conceding 60 yards, being third. On the same day he won at two miles. Going on to Marlborough lie was again successful nt tno miles, which be covered in 0.3 1-0. Ills other placed performances were registered at Hawke’s Bay In June, where he was third over two miles and second at a mile and a half. In the latter race lie registered 3.45 2-5, and finished within half a length of Bon Boy, to whom he was conceding 30 yards. He raced unsuccessfully at Auckland on Saturday and Monday. Bon Boy now ranks as a seven-year-old. He had four outings last season, being successful In the last of them. This was at Hawke’s Bay, when he covered a mile and a halt’ in 3.48 1-5. This season he won the Riverbank Handicap at' the Methven meeting, St. Petrox, conceding 48 yards, being tourth, while at Oamaru on Monday he was unplaced in the Improvers’ Handicap. Lady Tory is unknown to me, as is also Robert Todd. Great Way is the makings of a good sort, but so far he lias shown a disposition to mix bis gait. He is a four-year-old by Petcrwah from Medway. He did a good deal of racing last season, tinishing up with one win and a third to his credit. He was third to Nancy Bingen and Victor Bingen at Wellington in November, going two miles in 4.50 2-5. He got on the winning list in May, when he dead-heated with Great Nelson in the N.Z. Sires’ Produce Stakes at Forbury. In this race he registered 3.47 4-5 for twelve furlongs. He has had seven races ' this year, running third to Jock Bingen and Nelson Parrish in the Petrie Handicap at Greymouth on Saturday, and finishing second to Nelson Parrish in the Royal Oak Handicap. On Monday he won the Giesekiug Handicap from Nelson Parrish by three-quarters of a length, registering 4.26 3-5 for 14J furlongs. Nelson Parrish had a'busy season last year, and raced very consistently. He started seventeen times and -secured’ two wins, three seconds, and four thirds. From a time point of view his best performance was when he ran second to Walpukl at Marlborough in April, when he registered 3.38 2-5. On Saturday and Monday last he raced at Greymouth, where he ran second to Great Way over 14j furlongs, was similarly placed behind Jock Bingen over 12J furlongs, and won the Royal Oak Handicap of 14J furlongs from Great Way. Peter Eyre was twice second and once third out of seven starts last season. He registered 3.40 1-5 for 12 furlongs at Marlborough In February, while at Hawke's Hay in June he was second to Wah in the Tomoana Handicap, going 4.57 1-5 against the winer's time of 4.58 3-5. St. Petrox failed to win a race last season out of ton attempts, but lie was twice in the money at two miles. At New Brighton in December he was third iu 4.53 3-5, while at Timaru In March he ran second to Midland in the Temuka Handicap, his time on that occasion being 4.55 3-5. This season he was fourth in the Riverbank Handicap nt Methven. Rangitero had three races last season, being second to Deceitful In the. Havelock Handicap at Hawke’s Buy in June. This year he accounted for the Karatnea Handicap at the Auckland Trotting Club benefit meeting, in which he registered 3.43 3-5. Tanialdne is a young hdrse of promise, and his record to date is a very good one. Last year he won three races, and was once third out of five attempts. On Saturdnv he again won at Auckland, registering 3.38 1-5, and being only a couple of heads away third on Monday. Nothing racing here on Saturday has such a good record. Wall, too, i» a young horse of more than average ability, but he has not proved ns steady as Taniahine. Last year Wah won a couple of races at Hawke’s By in June, each being over two milcs._ His best time over this distance Is 4.58 3-5. He has had a eouple of unsuccessful outings this year, but should soon be doing better.

Great Harvester is a five-year-old gelding by Sonoma Harvester —O.J.C. I.ast vear lie raced five times, finishing up by running third ’td Gemlight and Rustle in the Longhead) Handicap at Ashburton in June, in which race he went 3.30 4-5.

Eva Reta is getting up in years, but nevertheless was quite a good stake-earner last year, when she won four races and was placed in three others. She registered 3.40 when she won tlie Progress Handicap at Inangahua in December, but poHfilbly her best form was that which slie displayed at Hawera in March,, when she won the Matapu Handicap in 3.47 and finished second to Ben Bingen in the Ohawe Handicap, in which she registered 3.42 3-5. She raced unsuccessfully at Auckland last weekrend.

Miss Leda has no form to recommend her. She may citato a surprise by running well, but the opinion I formed when I last saw her race that it was useless to persevere with her.

Ukulele Lady started only twice last season. As is generally known, she was confused with another horse, and was very favourably handicapped for the FalrhaU Handicap at Marlborough in February, which race she won easily in 5.8 2-o. She subsequently contested ono race at Hawera, but was outside tho money.

Speculator raced twice unsuccessfully last vear. In tho Tomoana Handicap, won by Wall, lie was handicapped to concede 102yds., being placed on a 4.47 mark. In the 1024-25 season lie ran third at Addington from a 4.43 mark, and as he was then in the “aged” category It is not likely that lie has shown any Improvement since. He Is now ou a 3.54 mark for 13 furlongs, which is equivalent to 4.48 for two miles.

Deceitful raced seven times last season, winning once, and being placed on two other, occasions at Hawke’s Bay in June, where she registered 3.52 1-5 at a mile and a half and 4.5(! 3-5 at two miles. In the latter race she was conceding Wah and Peter Eyre, who finished in front of her, 48 and' 12 yards respectively. She is a six-year-old mare by Nelson Bingen, and so may be expected to improve a bit yet..
