DOMINION CHAMPIONSHIPS SOUTHLAND AND BLUFF REPRESENTATIVES By Telegraph—Press Association. Invercargill, August 5. The Southland Boxing Association has selected the following to represent the province at the New Zealand championships at Greymouth:— Light-heavy: G. McEwan (Invercargill). Middle: R. Nichol (Ohai). Welter: L. Adams (Invercargill). Feather: L. Speueer (Ohai). The following have been selected to represent the Bluff Boxing Association at the championships: Heavy: G. Spencer (Greenhills). Middle: R. Bagrie (Awarua). WANGANUI AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIPS Dominion Special Service. Wanganui, August 5. The Wanganui Amateur Boxing Association’s championships were held tonight. Bantam final, A. Lock (Wanganui) v. E. Ranger (Patea). —During the first round Lock dropped Ranger with a right to the jaw to commence with. The round, which was Lock’s, was willing. The second round was fairly willing and Lock was superior right through. In the third round Ranger did better, but Lock easily got tl decision. In the lightweight J. Young (Wanganui) v. J. McMahon (Taihape), J. McMahon was the winner. Lightweight, W. Clark (lOst.) v. Clegg (9.6). —A fast, even tight. Clark was the winner. Lightweight, Semi-final. —W. Clark v. Calver (Hawera). In the first round Calver was aggressive, and forced the fight from the gong. It was Calver’s round. The second round found Clark forcing the fight, and the round went in Clark's favour. In the third-round Clark out-fought Calver, and got the decision. Light-weight final, W. Clark (Wanganui) v. J. McMahon (Taihape).—ln the first round McMahon knocked out Clark. Featherweight final. —Roy Forward (Wanganui) v. E. Gregory (Taihape). —The fight ended in the first round, Gregory receiving a hard body blow. Welterweight.—J. Lockett (Wanganui) v. W. Thurston (Taihape).— A hard, fast fight: Lockett was the winner by a narrow margin. Welterweight.—L. Riley (Taihape) v. C. McMahon (Taihape).—A list fight, with McMahon the better right through. Welter-weight final, J. Lockett (Wanganui) V. C. McMahon (Taihape).—ln the first round McMahom forced the fight, but Lockett made full nse of his reach and kept McMahon off. Honours were even. The second round found both missing badly at the first, but Lockett began using his left again and got the round. The third round was hard and even. Lockett was the winner. Flyweight.—J. Dick (Taihape) v. K. Fitzwater (Patea). Fitzwater was the winner in the first, round. Flyweight, J. Taylor (Wanganui), and F. Warner (Palea).—Won by Taylor. Fly-weight final, J. Taylor (Wanganui) v. K. Fitzwater (Patea).—ln the first round Fitzwater was the aggressor, but Taylor covered well and connected with straight lefts. It was Fitzwater’s round. In the second round Taylor made the pace from the first, connecting with both hands. In the third round Taylor forced the light and got the decision. Middle-weight, Final. —H. Scowan (Patea) v. Phil Corless (Wanganui). In the first round Scowan forced the fight, and had the better of it. In the second round Scowan was the agfessor, forcing Corless to the ropes, and connecting freely in the in-lighting. The third round was a fine, open light, with Scowan the aggressor, connecting with right and left. The judge gave Corless the decision. Light-heavy semi-final, G. Dillon (Tailiape) v. T. Walker (Patea). Walker won by a knock-out in the first round. Ileavv-weiglit final, J. Adams (Marion) v. A. Thurston (Taihape).—The first round was a hard-hitting round, with Adams In the lead. The second round was even, but the third round was Thurston’s round, and he was the winner.

Light-heavy final, J. Thurston (Taihape) v. T. Walker (Patea).—ln the first round Walker made tlie pace, and had Thurston down for eight. In the second round Walker had Thurston down three times, but. each time Thurston came back for more punishment. In the third round Thurston camp back well, ami soon both were too done to do much damage. Walker was the winnen.
