STOCKTON AND MILLERTON QUESTION OF ACCESS Agreement to reopen the question of access to Stockton and Millerton was expressed by the Minister of Mipes (Hom W. A. Veitch) in the House of Representatives yesterday. The Leader of the Labour Party (Mr. H. E. Holland) had asked the Minister if he would consult with the Minister of Public Works with a view to providing access to the mining townships named. That day he had received a telegram stating that a serious accident had occurred at the Stockton mine, and that great difficulty had been experienced in getting the sufferer out, owing to the road blockage, on account of the earthquake damage. There was urgent need for the opening of a new track.

The Minister said he was sorry to hear of the accident. In view of what Mr. Holland had informed the House, he would be glad to reopen the question with his colleague.
