At the Stadium to-night Ern Connors (Bst, 111 b.) beat Tommy Griffiths (Bst. 111 b.), the referee stopping the contest in the eighth round. Connors led throughout, punishing Griffiths, severely He dropped him several times with heavy lefts and rights to the jaw.. Griffiths was unable to land a convincing punch, and was beaten at in-fighting. Eventually Griffiths was in such a bad way that the referee stopped the fight, and declared Connors the winner.

NORTH BEATS DONOVAN ON A FOUL By Telegraph.—Press Association. Napier, June 19. The professional bout between Tommy Donovan Sst. 101 b. (New Plymouth) and Sid. North Bst. 41b. (Australia), scheduled to go fifteen rounds, ended sensationally in the fourth round, when Donovan fouled North and the latter was awarded the decision. Donovan from' the first gong hammered North, who was unable to avoid the damaging punches. In the third North reeled In pain from a low hit. and the gong saved him. Donovan had the Australian groggy In the fourth, when suddenly he sank one low which made North almost collapse. The verdict met with a mixed reception, but the foul was obvious. .
