PROPERTIES AUCTIONED

There was a -large attendance at Messrs. J. H. Bethune and Co.’s auction rooms yesterday afternoon, when, under instructions from the Di strict Public Trustee, properties forming part of several estates, also a valuable business site in Kent Terrace, belonging to “N.Z. Truth, Ltd.,” were submitted for sale by public auction. The Kent Terrace site, measuring approximately 57 feet by 250 feet, was the first submitted. Bidding commenced at £lO,OOO, and, failing to reach the reserve, it was passed in. No. 27 Scarborough Terrace, a sixroomed residence, on land 33ft. by 96ft., was sold to Mrs. F. Cunningham for £lO5O. No. 17 Laing’s Road, Lower Hutt, a six-roomed house, with land 45ft, by 180 ft., was sold to Mrs. E. J. Martin for £1075. A corner section fronting Alexander and Pine Streets, Upper Hutt, was sold to Mr. K. Geange for £lO5, and another fronting Alexander Street, having 82ft. frontage by 259 ft., to Messrs. Norman and Jennings for £l3O. No. 21 Hinau Road, containing four rooms and conveniences, also No. 11 o Austin Street, containing six rooms and conveniences, were sold for £9uo and £1450 respectively, just after the sale. Many inquiries have been made regarding the six unsold properties, which are now in the hands of the auctioneers for private sale.
