PROPOSED WANGANUI AIR PORT

o CONFERENCE OF LOCAL BODIES. Wanganui, June 19. A conference was held in Wanganui today of local bodies, and the proposed air port site at Landguard Bluff was discussed. It was decided to wait on the Harbour Board to ascertain upon what terms the land could be leased. The site is on a high bluff by the river and very near the sea. It is ideal as a landing place for both aeroplanes and seaplanes. The geographical situation of Wanganui is another favourable feature, the city being on a direct line between Christchurch and Auckland. With the developinant of communication with Australia, Wanganui would almost certainly be a principal landing place, being a junction between north and south.
