WHIPS SEA INTO FURY By Telegraph.—Press Association. u New Plymouth, June 19. A terrific gale from the north-west tonight whipped the sea into fury, and at high tide it invaded the sea front to an extent not known for some years. .Minor damage was caused by erosion at various beaches. The pavilion at Motorua was surrounded by water for some time. An old shed at the foot of the wharf was washed overboard, and a small craft in the harbour severely battered. A man standing on the foot of the wharf watching the fury of the sea was amazed to see a schnapper fly over his head m a mass of spray and land on the. wharf.
