ASSOCIATION

MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEETING FIXTURES FOR SATURDAY WEEK The Management Committee of the Wellington Football Association met last night. The following were present Messrs. W. B. Hicks (chairman), G. _Aers, J. M. Coleman, E. W. Heath, J. J. Kean, H. Spolsky. T. Plant, L. Mellor/ H. Nimmo, R. J. Weir, B. Mabin (secretary). The chairman welcomed Mr. J. J. Kean, the new hon. treasurer. Reference was made to the death of the late Rev. Father B. J. Ryan. A motion of sympathy was passed in silence, members standing. The secretary was instructed to send a letter of condolence to the relatives of deceased, and to St. Patrick’s College, the chairman mentioning the great interest taken by deceased in the game, and the sad loss the W.r.A. had sustained by his death. Letters are also to be sent to the relatives of the late Mr. Farquhar, and to the Petone Football Club. The following transfers were approved. —G. Scott, Marist second Ato third A; M. Hawkins, Marist first A to second A. A letter was received from Institute Old Boys Club enclosing £1 Is. towards wiping off the present debt. Their further support was assured by their secretary. A letter was received from the Petone Football Club with reference to their senior B v. Lower Hutt match, where, owing to a burst ball, play was stopped three minutes from time. This match is to be replayed at the end of the season. Perinisison was granted for the Shell Social Club to play a house match against Miramar Installation at Kelburn Park on Wednesday, June 26, at 2.45 p.m. A third class A grade player was suspended for the rest of the season for using bad language and striking a referee on the playing field. A second B division player was suspended from participating in any match until his appearance before the committee on a charge of using bad language. A sub-committee was appointed to investigate the possibility of running a workshop knock-out competition which would be run as curtain-raisers. A motion was passed suspending two second A division teams from competing in the cup competition owing to misconduct on the playing field. The secretary was empowered to receive interclub transfers up to noon on Saturday in writing in cases of emergency (stating particular reason), to operate until August 10.
