MEMBERS VISITING MT. COOK. Arrivals by the Mounganui from Sydney this week included Messrs. L. C. Stephens, R. H. AJlen,j ,-ujd Hater, qf the Ski Club Of Australia, on their way to Mount, Cook. When the Ski Club of Australia was formed in 1920, the opinion was expressed that "as skblng .became more universal in Australia, .the time would arrive when the annual'meetings of the club might be held in the Victorian Alps, in those in Tasmania, and even qt Mount Cook, )n New Zealand.” These three enthusiasts, two at least of whom have passed the third-class test of their club, are hoped to be the advance guard of one such annual gathering. One of the original vice-presidents pf the clqb, Mr. David Maughan, K.c., is a well-known figure at Mount Coojt, his- visits dating back to the, time of the did Hermitage. As presideht of'the Great Public Schools’ Association, the Australian Ski Fear Book says: “He did much to turn the minds of youth to the wonders and possibilities ot ski-running in Australia,” The Ski Club of Australia now has a membership of over 100, and the New Zealand tourjst, organisations concerned are fully alive to the importance of Mr, Stephens’s visit: Every endeavour is being made to Insure the success of the trip, and if Is the hope of Now Zealand ski,runners that next winter they will meet at.
