In a review of Mr. W. M. Hughes’s book, “The Splendid Adventure,” yesterday it was remarked that Welsh blood is thicker than l 3r “ te < s p wk author e ’s reference was made to the author s praise of Mr. Lloyd George. A visitor to Wellington from Dunedin, Mrs. Benton Leech, who during the war■ hved in Eng land, stated yesterday that it 1s by no means the Welsh only who took Mr. Lloyd George’s side. In many parts of England, the north in Particular, great opposition to the late Lord Asquith was evident before the Welshman took control. His Newcastle speech and his visit to the Continent to see a sick son at a time of great national stress in particular estranged his fellow-countrymen.
