Palmerston North, June 17. “We are taking proceedings because defendant ordered the inspector out and practically committed a technical assault,” said Mr. J. Lowden, District Inspector of Factories, when a charge was brought against E. K. Salon in the Magistrate’s Court this morning for failing to close his shop on the statutory halfholiday. Mr. Lowden stated that defendant was. a travelling auctioneer, and on the date concerned conducted a sale in a hall at Tokomaru. “This class of offence is fairly common in New Zealand and we have received instructions from headquarters to take proceedings,” A penalty of £5 was imposed by' the Magistrate..
