HUTT VALLEY CLUB.

“The year just concluded, the sixth since the club’s inception, has proved in all respects as successful as its predecessors,” states the annual report of the Hutt Valley Tramping Club. “As a result of the conservative P°lmy of your committee the club s finances are in a very satisfactory position. Membership shows a small increase, and it is •'ratifying to report that the number of outstanding subscriptions is relatively small, and that with a few exceptions the subscriptions have been paid promptly'“Club walks have been well attended, but it is regretted that sufficient support from members was not forthcoming to warrant the arranging of club trips at Christmas or Easter. Private trips, however, accounted for most members on these occasions, some of them journeying as far as Hawaii National Park, and Kilauea volcano. The most successful club trip of the year was the recent traverse of the Tararuas, under winter condiitons. An innovation which proved both successful and amusing was the skiing on Table Top and the slopes of Hec“The question of a' club hut has been under consideration by your committee for about six years, and we are aow awaiting definite word from the Wellington City and .Suburban Water Supply Board regarding a site which appears suitable. As soon as this comes to hand the new committee, assisted by the balance in bank, will be in a position, if it thinks fit, to carry on with the erection of the hut. It is hoped that by the end of the coming year the new hut will be available to members. “The annual football match with the Tararua Club resulted in a win for this club by 17 to nil. As a curtain-raiser to the match, the ladies of the two clubs staged an interesting hockey match, and a very close game concluded with a score of eight goals to two.’!
