AEROPLANE FOR LOCAL CLUB

BLUNDELL BROTHERS’ GIFT * Mr. N. McArthur, secretary of the Wellington Aero Club is in receipt of a letter from Messrs. Blundell Bros., Ltd., of this city, stating that they have dcided to present the newly-form-ed Aero Club with an aeroplane, which they understand will cost £B3O approximately (the price of a Moth with slotted wings). This generous gift has been accepted in the following terms :— “Dear Sirs, —I am requested by the committee of the Wellington Aero Club to acknowledge receipt of your letter of March 7, in which you intimate that the proprietors of the ‘Evning Post’ will donate to the club an aeroplane at a cost of £B3O. On behalf of the club I wish to express its grateful thanks for this most generous and publicspirited donation. The action of the proprietors of the ‘Evening Post’ will, we feel 1 assured, give a lead in the movement which will stimulate others to assist us in our object of developing aviation and stimulating an air sense in Wellington. “Our object is to obtain a sum of £4OOO, which will cover all capital expenditure, including two aeroplanes and the hangar, with provision for necssary working expenses for the first year. Our membership is increasing and we are confident that our annual income from subscriptions and fees will cover all future working expenses once the original £4OOO is obtained. Your generous action has gone far towards the raising of the £4OOO, and your example will lead to assistance from publicspirited citizens, which will enable us to attain our object. “In conclusion, we again thank you for this further example of the practical interest the ‘Evening Post’ takes in activities helpful to the Capital City. —Yours truly, T. G. A. Hislop, chairman.”
