Complaint was made by Councillor D. Prosser at yesterday’s meeting of the Makara County Council, that a Porirua taxidriver had been using his taxi as a hearse. The chairman (Mr. E. Windley) stated that he believed the taxidriver had carried corpses as far as Taranaki. Councillors were unanimous that action should be taken: this could be done through the health authorities, or the man’s license could be cancelled. It was decided that the matter be referred to the health inspector, with a recommendation that action be taken.
