CAMERON’S NEW RECORD

Christchurch, March 7. At a carnival at the tepid baths tonight W. Cameron (Wellington) reduced the New Zealand hundred metres record by 2 l-ssec. His time was 65 4-ssec. A. T. F. Stokes won the Canterbury championship for 220 yards, his time being 2min. 33sec., or 2sec. slower than his time in the Dominion championship. „ • At a meeting of the New Zealand Swimming Council the following records were passed:—100 yards intermediate girls’, 65 3-ssec., Peggy-Rob-ertson (Auckland) ; 100 yards men (fresh water), 56 4-ssec., I. W. Cameron (Wellington) ; 220 yards, men (salt water), 2min. 31sec., A. T. F. Stokes (Canterbury) ; 100 yards, men (salt water), 55 4-ssec., W. Cameron; 440 yards, ladies’ (salt water), 6min. 6 2-s‘sec., K. Miller (Wellington) ; 100 yards, ladies’ backstroke (salt water), 77 4-ssec„ Ena Stoekley (Auckland) ; 75 yards intermediate boys’ breaststroke, 60 4-ssec., R. Geddes (Otago) : 150 yards men’s breastroke, Imin. 52 l-ssec., L. J. Moorhouse (Canterbury); 50 yards junior “girls’ breaststroke, 42 l-ssec., Judith Webster; 220 yards men’s breaststroke (fresh water), 3min. 4sec. t L. Smith ; 75 yards Intermediate girls’ breaststroke (fresh water), 65 4-ssec„ Maxine Matheson; 75 yards junior boys’ breaststroke (fresh water), 61sec., R. Geddes (Otago).
