PRIME MINISTER’S TOUR
NON-POLITICAL VISITS Looking fit and well, the Prime Minister (Right Hon. Sir Joseph Ward) returned to Wellington last night from his visit to Gisborne and Napier. The trip was a particularly arduous one, involving six days of practically continuous travel, yet throughout Sir Joseph Ward showed not the slightest sign of fatigue. On arrival of the express at Palmerston North yesterday, the Prime Minister was met by friends and supporters, who cheered him when the train departed. “I have never felt better in my life,” the Prime Minister informed a “Dominion” representative last evening. “The trip, which is only the second occasion on which I have been able to get away from Wellington since assuming office, was particularly interesting, notwithstanding the strenuous nature of it. I was very much Impressed by the magnificent receptions accorded me everywhere. The visit was not a political one, and the manner In which I was received was therefore the more gratifying. I am satisfied from the expressions coming to hand from all over the country that there is a desire on the part of the bulk of the people that the new Government should have a fair opportunity to put its policy into operation.”
