PALMERSTON SCHOOLS’ SPORTS SIX RECORDS BROKEN Palmerston North, March 6. An overcast sky, with intermittent showers, failed to dampen the ardour of primary school boys and girls at their tenth annual swimming sports at the Municipal Baths this afternoon, when no fewer than six records were bettered. The standard attained by the swimmers was excellent, and was an improvement on previous sports. College Street succeeded in retaining the Manawatu Jewellers’ Shield for the boys’ relay race, but the Freeth Challenge Cup they lost to Central, who notched 38 points in championship events, College Street being equal, with Terrace End, with 31 points each for second place. An outstanding performer was C. Judd, of College Street, who broke the 66 2-3 and 100 yards championship records. He also played a prominent part in reducing the boys’ relay race record. Colbourne (Central), and C. Oliver (College Street), also broke a record each.
