Donfd, PostmasterGeneral, arrived this afteaoon from Kaikoura, and was civically -elcomed on the occasion of his first officii visit to Bienhelm. \ ? Responding to the welcoie, Mr." Donald said he had learned a greatdeal about the South Island during the tip. “I. have travelled from north to soth and back again, not through the We; Coast it is. true, but what I have ■ seen-surprised me beyond measure. lam sure he South has just as much, if not more, tobe proud of ' as we have in the North. Bias wonderful possibilities. lam glad if this, because we have thought the Noth the onlyplace that wanted population.” After receiving a number of'eputations the Minister, as the Governmcn representative, attended the old identifes dinner in celebration of the diamond übiiee'of. the Borough of Blenheim. He leaves for Wellington to-nrrow.
