FROM FAR AND NEAR Damages Awarded.—A .claim for £3Et'_ for a compound fracture of <t|ie rinf finger of the riglit hand was brought - by Leslie Mastyn Fowler, butter makes, against Henry Angus Munro, farmer, in the Supreme Court at Hamilton. The injury was received in a collision. Th* plaintiff was oh a motor-cycle, and k motor-lorry was being driven by an employee of the defendant. The facts were admitted, and the jury awarded £l9B damages, and costs. —Press Assn. Assistance for Migrants.—ln the House of Commons, Mr. Oliver Locker Lampson asked leave to introduce a Bill to enable British migrants to receive unemployment pay for two years after migration to the Dominions (states an Australian Press Association-United Service message). The Bill was read a first time. British Aero Clubs. —In the House of Commons, Sir Samuel Hoare, Secretary for Air, informed Mr. Gower that there were thirteen subsidised light aeroplane clubs in the United Kingdom, with an aggregate membership of 1807' (states an Australian Press Association-United Service message). There -were also seven unsubsidised clubs, and three service clubs. ■. ; ( Repairs to St. Paul’s.—At the present rate of progress it is expected that the whole of St. Paul’s Cathedral will be available for services in connection with the Lambeth Conference in the summer of 1930 (states an Australian Press Association-United Service message). The repairs so far have cost £154,000. • Not Leprosy.—The case of suspected leprosy which some weeks ago was engaging the attention of the medical au-. thorities at Napier Hospital, has now been definitely established as not being, that disease. The young Samoan concerned has been discharged from the in-. stitution. his complaint not being infections.—Press Assn. .. • Miner Killed.—John Bell, a mmerz single, employed by the Westport Coal Company’s Millerton mine, was killed yesterday through an inrush of boiling water from a fire section in the mine. The stopping broke away and boiling water flowed into the place where Beu was working.—Press Association.
